33

I submitted a workshop proposal for the next All Hands Meeting to discuss web services security. I hope it is successful. The workshop will be along the same format as my previous one 2 years ago. It also coincides with GOLD's final review and i thought a workshop of that sort plus our regular demo will enable us to go out on a high. The call for regular papers is also out and I am hoping to get my GOLD colleagues together to submit something to AHM (for a final time)

On the work front I have found a datalog interpreter XSB which i am trying to learn and at the same time evaluate its capabilities in expressing XACML policies. I am playing with various interesting Java APIs which at the same time i am learning from scratch.

I have finalised the list of chapters for my book and apart from some light paperwork, it is ready to be sent to the publisher. I hope to do this by mid February. I am still awaiting copyright forms from certain authors so please send these asap.

Mid February also marks my birthday (33 this year ) . I will try to get myself away before depression kicks in.

Seattle2

Weather conditions aside, the trip so far has been a great pleasure. I have a final meeting today and then i will be spending the weekend with Savas and a couple of his friends. There was a lot of progress made regarding our plans with access control and although i cannot disclose any information starting now until probably the day i die (i know i should have consulted our legal team before i signed anything) I look forward to this collaboration for which i have great ambitions. The Grid Security team which I am collaborating with are a great bunch of people (crap at pool though) and we had a lot of fun during our day long sessions. I almost forgot about my jetlag. Following the meeting - as a good tourist- I did some shopping at the MS store and took a picture next to the "Microsoft" brick wall. What sort of people buy company souvenirs one may wonder? Anyway, I am going to see the Seattle Supersonics NBA basketball team tonight and then we have some more evening things planned with friends. Apart from the dreadful weather which I am told is a rare occurance, I had a great time so far. I will be posting the pics as soon as Savas gives me a copy. More soon...Sorry for the unimaginative title.

Seattle

Hi all. This is just to say hi as I left UK too soon after the Christmas break and haven't had time to catch up with all friends and colleagues. I touched down at Seattle 12 hours ago and i am trying hard not to let jetlag take its toll on me. Weather is in the minus and I haven't seen much of Seattle apart from its skyline which looks impressive..not Manhanttan impressive but impressive nonetheless. I will update about the progress of my meeting soon.

Happy NY

Back to the office today after a long lay off, or at least what felt like a long lay off. I am preparing some slides for a couple of talks I am giving within the next few weeks, starting with the long awaited trip to Seattle next Monday. I am participating in a workshop which will hopefully mark the beginning of my formal collaboration with the MS security group for the purpose of developing Access control technologies. I look forward to that.

Thanks for the cards, presents and wishes. Greetings to all for a happy and prosperous new year.
