Linux Kernel Call Graphs

I got a good set of data a coupld of days ago from a colleague from IBM research. The data describes all method calls of a specific part of the Linux Kernel versions 2.6.9 to 2.6.17. I have the data for 5 versions in total and this is the first set of reliable data regarding a very specific part of the Linux operating system which I can use for various experiments. Im hoping to fullfill as quickly as I can my GOLD work as well as various academix responsibilities before i can start working on those data. I will keep people posted.

5 publications in 3 months.

You aim to have about 1 every six months and then 5 come along at once. I got more great news today that the GOLD papers on architecture and infractructure were accepted as regular papers at the AHM2006. I was quite pleased with the success of those papers as they both demonstrate the depth of the work that was put into the GOLD project. Participants at the next AHM will have the opportunity to attend the talks and have a look at the demos we plan. I have updated my publication's page with details of the latest citations.

On other news my colleague Theo. D. informed me that BT has finally agreed to fund the Case Ph.D. studentship I pursued. Both myself and my supervisor are in the process of identifying the right candidate to work on a middleware related phd project. We are hoping to attract a high quality candidate, technically able and willing to spend time both in NCL and BT. Myself and my Prof. P.W. will be responsible for his supervision. Im hoping (well actually i promised) to have the administrative part done by the beginning of July. So I am looking for a ph.d. student and Im hoping to have one by mid-July crazy

I want to have mid-July to mid-August free for my holidays. I am away for so many days a year and I get 4 weeks off at the end of it!. It's a hard life razz

World Cup Day

The papers reviews I was assigned have been handed in time (just) and as usual I accepted all of my friends' papers in the hope that they will return the favor big grin ...only kiiding of course.

The committee was informed that the results will be handed out on the 13th (at which point i will know the fate of the NCL papers) while the mortal population will be informed by the 20th.

I am also close to completing a tool for verification. Next week the software I have been writing for the verification of XACML access control policies using VDM will see the light of day. I look forward to demonstrating this at the next AHM as well as the various eScience workshops. I will submit the same code to others for independant testing and verification. Im hoping to write a couple of papers for this technology along with my colleague Jeremy B., who owns the original idea for the tool.

I look forward to weekend's World Cup football although once again none of my countrymen are featured sad ...Ok im off to lose some money betting on WC events.!

Just Moved

UPDATE: The moved proved slightly more tricky than I anticipated due to the move from a Windows based platform to a Unix one. Normal posting service will now resume.

It was going to happen sooner or later. After a couple of months of severe
attacks and several hardware faults I decided to move the website and my blog
away from my machine to a more secure host. Of course it means that i get
charged for it but as least I do not run the risk of damaging the contents of my
computer.

I am currently busy with trying to organising a web services security workshop
at the next Service Oriented Computing Conference that takes place in Chicago
in December. In addition I have to submit several reviews to the AHM2006 conference
as part of my program committee duty.

Coming back from my trips I also found out that several of my closely working colleagues
had decided to resign from the univeristy and move to industry. Inevitably I started contemplating
my future too.

the new website although online still has some problems with broken links. I am resolving these
all the time so in time it wil be alright. Remember to update your bookmarks as I will be taking the
glororan website down in a couple of weeks time.
