I am a Computing
Scientist specializing in Security and Dependability matters for Distributed
Computing and its related forms such as Grid and SOA. I am also proud to have
been at the forefront of the development of concepts such as Systems of Systems,
and Virtual Organizations. As part of my research I
am currently R&Ding cutting edge technologies to support security mechanisms
for Service Orientated Computing. In
particular I am investigating access control and single sign on for virtual organizations
within the GOLD project. I work with Web service standards and specifications
and in particular the Web service security family of specs. I have written
numerous papers in the above areas and I am currently preparing a book on WS
Security on behalf of Idea Publishing ltd. I act as a reviewer for several journals and I participate in various
conference/workshop program committees some of which I organize personally. I maintain strong links with several
industrial partners in telecommunications, transactional technologies and SE.
As a brief biographical note, I joined the department in June 2000 as a
research associate after successfully completing his Ph.D. in the
area of Enterprise Modelling under the supervision of Prof. John
Dobson. Working as an RA on the DSoS project I carried out research
into the integration of largely autonomous systems. I investigated
transactional models for coordinating legacy systems, fault
tolerance of component based systems and organisational failures due
to technical problems. I was promoted to Senior member of staff in March 2004 and started work on the GOLD project looking
into issues of trust, privacy and security.
Since 1997 I have published over 40 papers on
distributed computing, web and internet programming, Peer to Peer,
enterprise modeling, organizational aspects of software engineering, complex systems, and natural language processing. My research
interests remain in the area of enterprise modelling, distributed
computing, dependability and complex systems. I hold an an M.Sc
and a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Information systems. |
